are the symptoms of lung cancer the same as bronchitis?
………
As I had asthma/bronchitis for many years I didn’t really notice a big difference when I thought I had a very bad cold a couple of months ago so tried all kinds of cough meds etc. but didn’t help.
It persisted though and had trouble breathing, threw up phlegm and my food, lost a lot of weight, couldn’t sleep, weakness and so on.
Started to see the doctors at the beginning of November several times and getting all kinds of anti-biotics but didn’t help so went to the hospital to see a Thoracic specialist at the 9th Dec who ran a lot of basic tests and I had a bronchoscopy the next day.
A week later I heard I’ve got lung cancer and got immediate Radiotherapy treatment the next 5 days to reduce the swelling in my throat to help me breathing again.
It worked but there are a lot of side-effects which aren’t all pleasant but at least I’ve got most of my breathing back and that’s good.
Have to take a lot of meds and will have to have a CT-scan next week to see how far the cancer has spread or not.
Please go and see a doctor asap because it’s better to be safe than sorry as I found out.
I never liked to see a doctor and/or take any meds so I always postponed but that’s a thing I can’t afford to do anymore.
Now I have to and see what future brings.
Good luck!!!!

HSC 004 – NSCLC is the leading cancer killer among men and women alike, claiming more lives than breast, colon and prostate cancer combined. Non-small cell lung cancer is the most common type of this disease, accounting for 87 percent of all lung cancers. Because lung cancer has usually spread throughout the body before it is discovered, the survival rates for patients are quite poor. But new therapies and advances in imaging studies that could lead to earlier detection are serving as beacons of hope for patients and their families.

wat are the symptoms of lung cancer?
does it include more than wheezing. wat is the diagnosis and cure if any
Yes on eof the Symptoms of Lung Cancer is wheezing. The other symptoms include-
-dyspnea (shortness of breath)
-hemoptysis (coughing up blood)
-chronic cough or change in regular coughing pattern
-wheezing
–chest pain or pain in the abdomen
-cachexia (weight loss), fatigue and loss of appetite
-dysphonia (hoarse voice)
-clubbing of the fingernails (uncommon)
-difficulty swallowing
If the cancer grows into the lumen it may obstruct the airway, causing breathing difficulties. This can lead to accumulation of secretions behind the blockage, predisposing the patient to pneumonia.
Many lung cancers have a rich blood supply. The surface of the cancer may be fragile, leading to bleeding from the cancer into the airway. This blood may subsequently be coughed up.
Depending on the type of tumor, so-called paraneoplastic phenomena may initially attract attention to the disease. In lung cancer, this may be Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome (muscle weakness due to auto-antibodies), hypercalcemia and SIADH. Tumors in the top (apex) of the lung, known as Pancoast tumors, may invade the local part of the sympathetic nervous system, leading to changed sweating patterns and eye muscle problems (a combination known as Horner’s syndrome), as well as muscle weakness in the hands due to invasion of the brachial plexus.
Diagnosis is done as under -
Performing a chest X-ray is the first step if a patient reports symptoms that may be suggestive of lung cancer. This may reveal an obvious mass, widening of the mediastinum (suggestive of spread to lymph nodes there), atelectasis (collapse), consolidation (infection) and pleural effusion. If there are no X-ray findings but the suspicion is high (e.g. a heavy smoker with blood-stained sputum), bronchoscopy and/or a CT scan may provide the necessary information. In any case, bronchoscopy or CT-guided biopsy is often necessary to identify the tumor type.
If investigations have confirmed lung cancer, scan results and often positron emission tomography (PET) are used to determine whether the disease is localised and amenable to surgery or whether it has spread to the point it cannot be cured surgically. PET is not useful as screening, as not all malignancies are positive on PET scan (such as bronchoalveolar carcinoma), and lung infections may be positive on PET Scan.
For any cancer usually the following 3 treatments are given – Surgery of the tumor, Chemotherapy and Radiation therapy. The treatments and dosages depend much on the severity, grade and stage of the disease. Please cunsult your Oncologist and he will give you the right type of treament etc. and advice you further. Full treatment according to the Oncologist is required to be given for fighting the disease as CANCER IS STILL AN ENIGMA.-
Why is painful lung action a common symptom of lung cancer?
I don’t have lung cancer. Just homework in Science.
Because the lungs loose their elasticity as the disease attacks their cellular structure.

what is the symptoms of lung cancer?
Often, sadly enough, there are no early symptoms til lung cancer is in its later stages. I had a pain under my ribs, thought it was a bronchial attack.. had xrays, suspicious masses found.. ended up with multiple scans, biopsy and diagnosed with stage iv lung cancer.. never saw that coming!! So its important to get unknown pain checked out, listen to your body. Even at stage iv, I still don’t have the symptoms listed yet was given only a few months to live at my diagnosis.. weird.. but it happens.. be careful and be safe.

Symptoms for lung cancer ?
how do i know i have lung cancer??
I had my first cigarette around the age of 6 because i was curious.
Than i stole a box of packs n smoked them with my cousin. After that I stopped smoking as much and finally quit around 9.
I started again at the age of 14 but quitted again two years later. Am now 17 and am scared i might developed lung cancer since I see commercials about lung cancer everyday and how they tell you to quit before its too late.
Estimates for 2008 = 215,020 new cases of lung cancer (USA)
114,690 men and 100,330 women.
GOOD NEWS for young people
Lung cancer mainly occurs in the elderly.
About 2/3 people older than 65
Fewer than 3% under the age of 45
Average age of diagnosis ~ 70

You are probably OK at age 17.
It would be a VERY good idea to not resume smoking.
The majority of lung cancer patient I saw over 20 years as a cancer specialist doctor had smoked half a million cigarettes over ~ 50 years.

As far as symptoms – once you have a cough or cough up blood from a lung cancer, it is probably too late. Lung cancers – like most cancers – are better detected before symptoms present – and even better – prevented by not ingesting carcinogenic chemicals daily.
