my dad is 73, he has been suffering with a bad cough for over 2 months.?

he has had tests and a scan and xrays. there is a small patch on his lung which we have discovered that he has "Plural Plaques" but have been told that this is not harmful or has any factor to him coughing. the scan and xray shows no infections and his chest and lungs look fine. he has had anti biotiscs, medicine and an inhaler of the doctor yet this cough just wont go. it is getting him down and my mam too. it is making him ache all over and his throat is hurting due to all the coughing. he is diabetic and also has bad arthritus.please can you help, we are desperate.
he is a non smoker
the specialist said when listening to his chest it sounds very "Crackly" yet all looks fine on the xrays and scans.

one word – consult the RIGHT doctor

ask your current doc the questions you have asked in here. if his response/reasoning doesn’t give satisfaction go to another. general docs are not good at high-risk condition hence i’d say check up with someone else

(yeah i know i am not of much help or the response you want, its just that asking a doc is far more better choice. yeah it is possible that you’ll get a clue by asking here but not the exact answer to your father’s conditions. only docs can do that. plus coughs is a symptom to lot of respiratory conditions)
